Bell School is proud to introduce Robotics as a special skills activity from the Second Term of 2009. Recognizing the fact that a large proportion of our students graduate to become Engineers, we have chosen to provide unique avenues of engineering skills for our students, right from Std VI onwards. Registration is currently taking place for students to enrol in this contemporary new activity, charged at Rs.500 per year.

The Robotics programme organized by NetLink in Bell School is the first of its kind to be organized in Tamil Nadu. Very few institutions across the country have had the privilege of hosting a project of this caliber. The staff who will conduct the training are being specially trained and certified by the Singapore Robotics Academy. Students will form a Robotics Club in Bell School and will even get a chance to represent INDIA as a team, in the Asia Pacific Robotics Competition held in Singapore which is organized every year. Nearly 150 teams from 10 countries participate to win the grand prize of $10,000. This event is expected to be a major challenge for our talented children. For more information send us an email or click the SRM 2009 logo below.

In the coming years, Bell School will inaugurate a Robotics Lab, focusing specifically on improving this Robotics Activity. The Robotics Lab will contain, in addition to our prescribed i-Robo Kits, Lego's Mindstorm kits by which children can creatively make new robots, each of which perform different tasks. Imagine creating Robots with wireless remote controls, Robots that can draw, pick up objects, play football, trace lines on a chart, or even repeat tasks that you set! Devices are controlled by Software Programming on a laptop, which will also be taught in the course.

A new Robotics Lab in Bell School will include Lego Robotics Kits such as the MINDSTORMS kit shown above. Hundreds of different creative robots can be made from a single kit, each programmed to do different tasks.
