In November 2007, Bell School inaugurated its first annual Kindness Week celebrations. The programme was organized wonderfully by the Kindness Committee, which was formed by members from all participating classes and all 140 members of the staff. Students from different classes were given item-lists that were requested by the local organizations dedicated to charity, and children donated generously in materials. Cash donations were requested (optionally) only for Kindergarten children, whose parents generously donated a sum of over Rs.27,000. The money was used to provide excellent lunches for two old age homes and school for mentally challenged children.
Kindness Tree
Each child was rewarded with a Kindness Heart for each act of kindness they did. They wrote behind the heart what act of kindness they had done, and then pinned them up as pairs on the Kindness Tree. Two Kindness Trees were made - one for the Kindergarten school and one for the Primary, Middle and High schools. The Kindness tree was blossoming with acts of Kindnesses, and encouraged more children to perform more acts of kindness every day.
